With Halloween and Bonfire Night well and truly over thoughts, naturally, turn to Christmas. Here’s four fabulous events happening this weekend to get you in the festive mood and start your Swansea Christmas in style!
16 November 2018 – 6 January 2019
Museum Park, Swansea
It’s not a Swansea Christmas without a little dancing on ice at Waterfront Winterland, brought to you by Sayers Events and 11th Hour in association with Swansea Council.
This year the popular Admiral Ice Rink will be under cover, so you can enjoy whizzing around the rink in all weathers. Relaxed sessions and skate penguins to help keep young children on their feet ensure everyone can join in the fun.
In the funfair you can hop on the Sky View if sky-scraping thrills are your thing. Alternatively, the Giant Wheel offers views of the city at a gentler pace. The new Ice Extreme ride offers more white-knuckle excitement.
16 November – 20 December 2018
Princess Way and Oxford Street, Swansea City Centre
Why not start your Christmas shopping? This weekend sees the Christmas Market open in Swansea’s city centre.
You’ll be sure to pick up something special when you visit the many talented crafters, traders and street food vendors will be lining the streets to offer shoppers a variety of unique gifts, tempting treats and beautiful decorations.
Children will love the beautiful hand-crafted gifts, especially with a personalised touch, and foodies will appreciate the selection of handmade chocolates, fine cheeses and quality wines on offer.
And, when you’re a little tired of shopping, you can leave your bags in the convenient lockers at Mobility Hire in Swansea Bus Station, leaving you to relax with a mulled wine at the market’s cosy Christmas bar.
17 December – 23 December 2018
Portland Street, Swansea City Centre
Step into Christmas at Santa’s Grotto, in association with SMYTHS Toy Superstores. The man in the big red suit will be dropping into his colourful cabin in Portland Street daily, from 17 December to 23 December, to listen to children’s wishes and spread some festive cheer.
18 November 2018
Swansea City Centre
Bursting with Christmas fun and sparkle, Santa’s Time Travelling Adventure will see the city’s streets thronging with dynamic dance troupes, family entertainment, walking and mobile processions and, of course, Santa on his new sleigh.
The fun begins this Sunday at 4pm with magical entertainment around the city centre, followed by the main event featuring moving exhibits, amazing technology and special effects – prepare to be transported to Swansea Christmases past, present and future.
